The Great Passion Play in Northwest Arkansas

Every May through October, the town of Eureka Springs provides groups with a taste of the Holy Land as more than 170 biblically costumed actors take the stage to perform one of the greatest love stories ever told.

“The Great Passion Play” has been performed in Northwest Arkansas since 1968 and puts on more than 80 performances each season to tell the story of Jesus Christ’s last days on Earth. The play begins with the resurrection of Lazarus and winds its way past the triumphal entry of Christ on Palm Sunday, leading up to Christ’s crucifixion, resurrection and ascension into heaven.

The performance takes place rain or shine and is set in an outdoor amphitheater with amazing lighting, special effects and live animals. The experience is great for church groups, but everyone can enjoy a pilgrimage to this part of the state, where the play is only part of the experience. The attraction also offers a full buffet restaurant, a replica of a Holy Land street, a Bible museum, a wilderness drive safari and other attractions.
