ANAHEIM, Calif. — Disney California Adventure Park completed a five-year, $1 billion makeover and expansion June 15 with the grand opening of Cars Land and Buena Vista Street,
The 12-acre Cars Land re-creates scenes from the animated Pixar movie “Cars” and features three new rides: Luigi’s Flying Tires, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree and Radiator Springs Racers. It also has three new dining venues: Flo’s V8 Cafe, Cozy Cone Motel and Fillmore’s Taste-In.

Buena Vista Street simulates 1920s Los Angeles with authentic shop names, period costumes and architecture. Its anchor is the Carthay Circle Theatre, which is modeled after the movie palace where Walt Disney’s “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” premiered in 1937.

Carthay Circle Restaurant and Lounge in the theater serves southern California cuisine.

Since it was announced in 2007, the Disney California Adventure renovation has produced the opening of Toy Story Mania! in 2008, the nighttime water show “World of Color” in 2010, The Little Mermaid — Ariel’s Undersea Adventure in 2011 and the re-imagined Disneyland Hotel earlier this year, complete with all-new guests rooms, a new restaurant and bar and a new courtyard with a new pool and outdoor event lawns.
