It’s Personal in Jordan

As I sit at my desk attempting to catch up from the past two weeks, I can’t help but tune out every now and then and reflect on the great time I had with seven of our travel planner readers and their pastors on our most recent OnSite FAM to Jordan.

Touring parts of the Holy Land with pastors who understand the ins and outs of the Bible and its history is an eye-opening experience. Experiencing the Baptismal Site of Jesus Christ; standing where Moses gazed over the Promised Land from Mount Nebo; and viewing the ancient Decapolis cities with this group was eye-opening for me. To see the amazement through their eyes and have them relate everything back to the Bible helped me to appreciate where we were and why it’s so important for people to visit this country.

For me, one of the most memorable experiences from the trip was our night in Wadi Rum. Our hosts were able to alter our itinerary so that we could stay overnight in the desert, glamping in tents under the open sky.

Staying at this famous desert site where several major films have been made was a really cool experience. Watching the stars and talking about our favorite parts of the trip on a calm April night definitely made Wadi Rum one of the highlights of the trip.

I can’t wait for you to read about this experience and more in the Summer issue of Going on Faith, coming out in June. Be sure to keep an eye out for this — you won’t want to miss it!
