Kentucky Faith Trail:

  • Tour the log cabin of a pioneer preacher who played a pivotal role in the Restoration Movement at “Raccoon” John Smith’s Cabin in Monticello.
  • Visit the site marking the beginning of “The Second Great Awakening” at Adairville’s Red River Meeting House.
  • Don’t miss the Old Mulkey Meetinghouse State Historic Site in Tompkinsville. This state park is perfect for history buffs, offering a look into religious, pioneer and rich state history. Tour the state’s oldest freestanding log meetinghouse. You’ll also find hiking trails, picnic areas and Old Mulkey’s Quest scavenger hunt.
  • In Auburn, discover the history and culture of the Shakers at South Union Shaker Village. Explore the village’s remaining buildings, including the Shaker Museum within the 1824 Centre House.

  • Visit the nation’s first cathedral west of the Allegheny Mountains, the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral, in Bardstown.
  • With stained glass windows, high arches and intricate stone carvings, the Gothic Revival architecture of Covington’s Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption is truly awe-inspiring.
  • Visit the Abbey of Gethsemani in Trappist to learn about the Order of the Cistercians of the Strict Observance and the monastic lifestyle. Guests will also find 1,500 acres of nature trails just across from the monastery.
