Venture Expeditions will bike for Joplin

Venture Expeditions will use sweat and bikes to raise funds and awareness for the tornado-ravaged Joplin, Mo., and Tuscaloosa, Ala. The nonprofit tour operator will run a two-week bike trip from Joplin to Atlanta for volunteer groups.

Venture Expeditions, in partnership with the Catalyst Conference, has scheduled the Joplin-Tuscaloosa Relief Tour for Sept. 23 through Oct. 9. Tour participants will spend a day helping tornado victims before starting on the bike ride.

Along the route, bikers will stop at churches to ask for prayers and donations for the two cities. Participants will then experience the Catalyst Conference in Atlanta at the end of their bike trip when the funds raised from the tour will be given to Joplin and Tuscaloosa churches to aid their communities.

A limited number of people can sill join the trip by signing up and agreeing to a fundraising commitment. A 15-passenger van and trailer will accompany the team carrying gear. All food, lodging, apparel, bike maintenance, route mapping, fundraising resources and experienced guides are included in the tour.

Venture Expeditions organizes adventure-driven campaigns similar to the Joplin-Tuscaloosa Relief Tour to raise awareness and financial support for various humanitarian projects, including those in Thailand, Indonesia, China, Africa and India. Hundreds of volunteers bike, hike or run to connect American churches with churches that serve communities in need.
