Making Connections through Travel

Son, Greg WeeksIn addition to those iconic Southern cities, Connection Christian Tours takes groups to a number of favorite tourism destinations around the country. Weeks said that his groups enjoy visiting Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Eureka Springs, Arkansas; New York; and New England.

The company has also begun branching out to international destinations. Weeks has led two tours to Israel and is planning a trip to Greece to follow the trail of Paul’s missionary journeys.

Weeks’ vision for the future gets bigger from there. He’s begun using Facebook and Twitter to help promote his tours and is looking into new travel experiences that his groups haven’t had before, such as Christian cruises or volunteer-based trips to South America.

“I want to start ministry trips to encourage volunteer mission work,” he said. “I believe that we can take a group of seniors and that they can work on a house for three days, and we can do some touring in the area at the same time. They can do something that makes a lasting effect and enjoy themselves, too.”

No matter where they go, the tour groups keep faith at the center of their experiences. If they are traveling on a Sunday, Weeks will lead the group in a worship service aboard the coach. And every trip helps to fund the organization’s ministry efforts.

“We’ve purchased an old school that has been closed since 1982 and revamped the old gymnasium,” Weeks said. “We’re going to turn it into a retreat center that will sleep up to 150 people at a time. We’re going to do youth retreats; senior retreats; men’s, women’s and couples retreats.

“All of the money from the tours goes to renovate that school. We hope to start using it by this fall. Our goal is not to reach a few people for Christ, but to reach thousands. I know that we can do it, too.”
