Leiper’s Fork

Tennessee

The land that is today known as Leiper’s Fork was first settled in the late 1790s by pioneering Revolutionary War veterans from North Carolina and Virginia who were given land grants as payment for their service. The village received its name shortly after opening its first post office in 1818, and today this charming Tennessee settlement attracts an eclectic mix of creative Nashville expats looking to live a rural life just outside the metro area.

Although this community is situated in some of the most scenic countryside in middle Tennessee, Leiper’s Fork isn’t just all about the scenery. The town is historic yet current and rustic yet sophisticated, booming with colorful locals and entertaining shop owners who are passionate about their community and businesses. Everyone there seems to welcome groups with open arms to help them experience the best of Leiper’s Fork. Among the attractions are world-class art galleries and antique stores, open porches primed for listening to locals tell stories and an open-mic night at Puckett’s Grocery, where groups never know what famous or soon-to-be-famous name will grace the stage next.

“Leiper’s Fork is the only historic village located on the Natchez Trace Parkway,” said Deborah Warnick, director of cultural and heritage tourism for the Williamson County Convention and Visitors Bureau. “It’s a place where many songwriters and artists live and receive inspiration from the Old World setting. Many major recordings are made tucked away in these hills. You never know who you will see in Leiper’s Fork.”
