MANSFIELD, Ohio – Larger-than-life oil paintings depicting Jesus’ 46 parables will debut at BibleWalk, Ohio’s only wax museum. The exhibit called “The Walk of Parables” opens to the public on March 21, 2015.
The exhibit includes paintings, Bibles, wood carvings and other religious art pieces. The 39 oil paintings by religious artist Mark Pedro are one of the only series of paintings depicting all 46 parables ever accomplished by a single artist.
“We are excited to share Mark Pedro’s paintings with the public,” said Julia Mott-Hardin, BibleWalk director. “The Parables will be a wonderful addition, offering visitors the ideal complement to the tours and other exhibits and works of art they will experience at BibleWalk.”
BibleWalk also plans to offer two new tours this year on top of its current four visitor tours. Additionally, an art gallery is expected to open before 2016.
When it opened in 1987, BibleWalk showcased 19 scenes of fiberglass figures. Today, BibleWalk features 70 different scenes with more than 300 life-sized wax and other types of figures. Madam Tussaud’s popular recreation of “The Last Supper” remains one of the highlights.
